2010 Farmers Insurance Open Odds – Phil Mickelson Favored

Phil Mickelson makes his first appearance on the PGA Tour for the 2010 Season, as he will take part in the 2010 Farmers Insurance Open from La Jolla, Calif.

Formerly the Buick Invitational, this event takes part on Torrey Pines North and South courses starting Thursday, January 28 and ending Sunday, January 31.

Mickelson is the pre-event favorite to win according to the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Mickelson has masters odds of 6/1 to win. Other short odds to win are Robert Allenby (16/1), Ernie Els (22/1), and Nick Watney (22/1).

Mickelson has competed in this event in recent history, placing in the top 10 in both 2008 and 2006. He has been a three-time winner, taking home the 2001, 2000, and 1993 titles. Mickelson has won two of the last three events he has played in and he placed in the top 20 in nine events in 2009.

Allenby finished ninth in this event in 2007. In recent history, Allenby has been on a roll, as he won his last two events in 2009 and finished second in his lone event in 2010, the Sony Open.

Els has not taken part in this event recently, and he hasn’t won an event since the 2008 Honda Classic. Els has finished in the top 20 in four of his last five events, including a 12th place finish in the Sony Open.

Watney is the defending champion of this event, and he also finished ninth in the 2007 event. In his last three events, Watney has finished no worse than 16th.
